NYSCF partners with Storyline to personalize cancer treatment with deep learning A.I.

New York Stem Cell Foundation

The New York Stem Cell Foundation has partnered with Storyline to help bring our research platform and deep learning A.I. capabilities into the hands of cancer researchers.

We’re excited to have NYSCF as an early research partner to help us put next-generation tools in the hands of cancer researchers.

NYSCF’s mission is to accelerate cures for the major diseases of our time through stem cell research.

In addition to conducting innovative stem cell research in their own state-of-the-art laboratories, NYSCF also supports and convenes global stem cell thought leaders and the broader stem cell community – all with the focus on helping patients.

The NYSCF Research Institute, an independent laboratory, is a non-profit accelerator that serves to bridge the ongoing gap between research institutions and pharmaceutical and biotech companies by reducing the cost, time, and risk that historically inhibit the development of new treatments and cures. In just over one decade, NYSCF has created not only foundational tools for using stem cells in disease research, but also pioneering technologies that will allow stem cells to be used therapeutically.

By pursuing and supporting only the most promising stem cell research and technologies, in its own laboratories and in partnership with leading institutions around the world, NYSCF serves as a catalyst in this transformational field, advancing better treatments and cures for diseases with a high unmet need

Cancer patients can often feel powerless. They want to do all they can, but many feel as though they don’t have much control over their treatment. This is why we are partnering with NYSCF – Robertson Neuroscience Investigator Alumnus and University of Utah Associate Professor Chris Gregg, PhD, on Storyline, a venture aimed at giving patients a new avenue to improve diagnosis, personalize treatments, and further our understanding of cancer.

“Storyline is a new artificial intelligence platform for analyzing cognitive and behavioral patterns where patients can answer questions about their disease experience over time: what treatments they are receiving, how they are feeling, etc.,” explained Dr. Gregg. “Then, with machine learning, researchers will identify subgroups of patients with similar disease progressions and treatment responses, ultimately helping determine which therapies will work for which patients.” Cancer is a famously variable and patient-specific disease. Collecting and managing data about how different patients experience cancer has enormous potential to improve diagnoses, treatments, and patient quality of life. We are excited about this partnership with Dr. Gregg and the many lives it will improve.
